Called my Business line in BC during lunch. No message left. I wonder if it is related to the calls from Ontario yesterday that hung up after I said hello (on two separate business lines about 5 minutes apart)
These people have called here four times today and it is not even 2 pm in the afternoon. We don't answer and there is no message left. My question to the phone company. Why do I have to pay for a service that others can use to harrass and bother me on a Sunday? At what point will you step in and assume some responsibility for monitoring the quality of service you provide? You are the only ones who can cut these idiots off, but you prefer to allow good customers to be pestered because you might lose revenue from these telemarketing toads. If this continues, we'll just disconnect our landline completely and go to cell phone.
Simple Robo-dial caller. Do not answer, block the call! On the iPhone, click "i" for info, and scroll to the bottom to block the number. It's all you can do. We already reported to the FTC --- however, YOU should take a few moments and report as well -- ALWAYS REPORT -- although the FTC doesn't act on every call, all the reports are databased and tracked. https://www.donotcall.gov/
cell phones also get spam - this caller is hitting my cell.
a better solution might be to (really) outlaw spoofed callerid. if your callerid isn't your real name and number, your service is cut off, and major carriers won't take your calls. it's not so hard to match area code and network, so a voip call from pakistan doesn't use a wyoming cellular number, for instance. misrepresenting yourself by telecommunications is illegal in some countries (a holdover from early radio).
Sue, I could not have said it better myself. I run a small business out of my home. Unfortunately, business lines are exempt from the Do Not Call List, for a lot of good it does anyway. The sorry phone company needs to take action to protect their paying customers, but they don't care. Our hundreds of corrupt, elected politicians will do nothing about it either. Lobbyists pamper them with trips and big perks. I contacted my senators and representatives in Georgia (some of the most corrupt in the country) and their response, if I even got one, was a joke. They said that the telemarketers might be calling to offer my business some service I might want. Really? Are they that ignorant and arrogant to think I am not capable of researching and finding vendors to purchase from without having to be harassed by these scumbags pestering me by their constant phone calls? Furthermore, you politicians, do you think I would actually do business with someone who randomly calls me, usually speaking in some foreign accent. Every politician's house should be called for every single call we each get from these scumbags. How quickly things would change.
