VFW fundraiser scam call. Could not explain to me what the VFW stands for. Really sad that they use organization like the VFW, Wounded Warrior, local Fire and Police Departments, and others non profits that really do need the donations.
Call came in on Monday, February 2, 2015, 3:52 MST. Caller said she was calling on behalf of the VFW in Wyoming and then asked me, "How are you doing today?" I told her that if her call was to solicit a donation from me that I do not conduct financial matters like that over the telephone. She said something about how I should keep the VFW in mind for next year and hung up.
I called the number back and got an automated system saying if you would like to make a donation to a non profit organization of your choice leave your name, your number twice, and someone will get ahold of you. If you want removed, repeat above action, if you have any other questions repeat above actions. Funny thing is, if it was for the VFW like the other person who posted in here said they received the call for, I'm a lifetime member. You would have thought to call the number that is listed with the VFW and not the number that is only listed in the phone book due to it being a business line.
I got the call at 3:35 p.m. I didn't answer the call as it was an unfamiliar number. They didn't leave a message on the voice mail. I looked the number up so I could see who the caller was because I have been getting a lot of calls from numbers I am not familiar with.
