Keep receiving calls from them and the caller is so distorted it's hard to understand everything they say. They told me they are not trying to sell me more magazines they just want to help lower my yearly rate on the magazines I'm already receiving, I told them I'm not interested but they keep on so I hung up. It's a scam I'm sure. I called the number back and I got a message telling me how to be put on there "DO NOT CALL LIST". I hope it works.
Dumbasses call me at 430 on a Sunday afternoon, but the call went unanswered and I keep my answering machine off--perhaps the best way to discourage the caller. Not only are they hoping to rip you, finding out if your number is live or has an answering machine is almost as good. They'll sell it to other scammers so they can test their luck. These unknown magazine "services" are mainly after financial info.
I wouldn't hold my breath on that happening, in fact that may be an invitation to more calls. Scammers are exempt from DNC, and most are overseas using disguised numbers. Just leave it alone entirely, even with a machine if possible. Letting them know your number is active is money their pockets since they sell it.
Got a call from these people. Sounded slightly legit at first but they went on to try and mine information from me that was clearly trying to rip off my credit card. Asking which type of card I have a better standing with, what kind of income me and my wife have, then started pushing for middle name, expiration dates and the back number of the card. At which point I told them that this sounds like a scam and that they are trying to steal my information and credit card.
The lady got really insulted and hurt sounding and angrily hung up with me.
