Isn't it just possible that the Federal Do Not Call List, responsibility for its upkeep divided between the FCC and the FTC, serves as a "directory" for the thieves - who use its names and numbers to facilitate their stealing?
All the bogus calls seem to revolve around separating people from their money, such as it is - for "home repairs," for solar panels, for credit card interest lowering, and a long list of other criminal rackets...

We are so annoyed with these constant various telemarketing solicitation calls, especially the hang ups, if answered. Let's get our legislators to author a Bill to make it illegal or at least fine the telemarketer company if asked to be removed and it doesn't happen. Our land line is for family and friends only!

Just in case you haven't noticed, such a bill was passed several years ago.
If you have registered on the federal Do Not Call site, and if a legitimate / registered telemarketer calls you, you can complain ... and the caller can get fined.
However, ILLegitimate telemarketers ... telescammers and telespammers and other telescum still call ... tracking down these criminals is difficult, particularly if they are overseas.
Consider buying a phone blocker, and rely on yourself for protection!
