Now they are calling me at 9pm after a week of calling around seven! I get up at 4 in the morning. Any later and my sleep will be affected. I guess I'll have to start silencing my phone. Do these calls ever stop? Just rude!
I, too received a missed call from this number (310-206-8481), as well as from another also originating from UCLA (310-794-2772). As a graduate, I am obviously on their calling list, and have taken similar calls in the past.
This was a legitimate call from the UCLA annual fund department. As an alumnus, I always give back because UCLA opened up a lot of doors for me. Sometimes I've given plenty back, but even when I was strapped for cash I gave a little bit because I realize that giving back any amount increases the alumni give back percentages, which is used as a category in several college ranking services. More alumni giving back = higher rankings = more value in our degree = better jobs and opportunities for us.
Keep smoking from their propaganda pipe. These "higher" levels of education that are state run are nothing but over-educated welfare operations. The private "tech" schools that target ex-military are nothing but legal scams.
These schools already get enough of our tax money not to mention all the donations from the super rich whom donate to have a building or school in their name.
Bottom line is if I wanted to donate I'd call them. Don't call me or sell my details to others!
