I recieved the same call and yes apparently I won the 450000HKD. They took my details and the Bank has called me and said that I need to get a Funds Transfer Certificate before they can transfer the money. They say they have the cash cheque in my name but will need the document before transfering funds.
I told Victoria when she called me a number of times and she told me to get my own accountant to do this so that the funds can be transfered into my account. She says that any International Accountant can do this but they will require 6% as payment for their efforts.
All a little too good to be true. But I thought it wouldn't hurt to see how far I can get. There is no way I am going to pay money to someone for something that has no ground.
I just can't believe how these people can come in and try to scam people. Where is their heart....'
Oh and if anyone is interested When I told victoria about the number of people who were told this she also said that there were 3 people who won this prize and their Company originates from Baida Jewelllery. She also said that the company comes from Europe and that they now have an office in Hong Kong.
I also got a call from this number for short survey and was told to expect a MP3 player for assisting in the survey. I got a second all asking me to to attend a celebration party in Canberra for the Baida Group's forthcoming business in Australia. A;though I said I could not attend I was given a number for a raffle to be held. I thought nothting more about it until the following Monday I got the unexpected phone call saying I had won 2nd prize in the raffle 450,000 HKD. I got the same rigmarole as other people, but was sceptical when I was asked to send 3,600AUD to s omeone in China to pay the Hong Kong taxation involved prior to thepr ize money being paid into my bank. I gave then the account number of an account with only a few dollars in. I asked the lady who rang me why a statutory declaration authorizing the Hang Seng Bank ti deduct the Tax payable, but she said that couldn't be done.Everything she said appeared plausible, but thankfully I then found the whocallsme website and knew for sure it wasn't real.

the exactly the same thing happened to us and my hubby is changing bank as well and to top it off the lady called my husband a rude man then hung up but befor all of that we phone calls back and forth and days wasted...when they lady said why were we not there at the opening to get the check...duh we couldnt afford to travel six hours flight at one days notice we began to wonder....sorry it happened to others... we are feeling pretty silly because of it...once bitten twice shy lol
