Actually, "they" don't have your number. They use a PREDICTIVE dialer that can dial several hundred numbers an hour perhaps thousands. You were the next number in the area they were robodialing. Since you answered their call, the computer has registered that you have a "live" number - a number that can be used again or sold to other criminals.
NEVER ANSWER UNKNOWN CALLS AND NEVER CALL THE NUMBER BACK.
Called 1/12/16 - blocked!
Called again today - blocked again.

This number called our landline at 3:08 in the morning! So add harassment to the ordinary annoying robo-call. I have decided never to buy anything from anyone who uses the phone to pitch a product or service. Some honest people will lose business of course...but there has to be a way to fight back. Do-Not-Call List is worthless.
Received a call from this number. Picked it up said hello but silence and they hung up. About 10 seconds later, the phone rang again, this time with the number 949-438-5287 with Newport Beach caller ID. Said hello and the spammer said we are calling homeowners to offer them.... I stopped this criminal right there and said - Do you damn telemarketers not give a s*ht about the Do Not Call list? Stop this bleeping telemarketing harassment and slammed the phone down. The SOB had the nerve to call back a few seconds later but had already blocked the number. These criminals need to be stopped somehow.
