These guys use various names and call from different area codes and spoofed numbers, but they are the same guys (I recognize Mike/Jim/Robert/Steve as all being the same person). They use names like Crown Home Improvement, Pacific Coast Home Solutions, Clearview Home Improvements, Advanced Remodeling Center, and JTB Home Improvement. I have actually had them call 3 times within one hour with the same guy, different name, and different company name. They try to overcome my blocking device by calling me from multiple phones, all showing the same phoney number about 3 seconds apart, just to make me think they are not getting blocked. Talk about scumbags!!
Called said he was Scott Allen and when I asked for his license number he flipped out.
When I called the number back, they answered for a different contracting company.
Contractor Telemarketing
My new 7 step strategy for contractor telemarketing.
When the number doesn't come up...
1.Ask them why they are calling?
2.Tell them I have a lot of work that I am currently looking for contractors to do.
3 But I need to finish something, can I call them back in 15 minutes.
4. Tell them I need a phone number to call them back at.
5. If they haven't hung up, ask the person's name and ask if I should ask for them, or someone else.
6. If they haven't hung up, ask them their CONTRACTOR LICENSE NUMBER.... They will most assuredly have hung up by now.
The Federal Do Not Call list is for ADVERTISEMENTS. Check things before you write. These calls are authorized by you in the Membership Agreement when you sign up. *Sigh* Cannot believe the ignorance of some people, and then the nerve to become angry at callers because you don't read contracts. Just absurd and saddening...
Ok, so let me make sure I have this all straight. You sign up for a service. You put in your phone number. You hit a check box where you agree to be contacted, but then you are surprised when the service calls you? Hrmmm, perhaps you could READ when you sign up for a service. Anyway, the standard call cycle for Angies List is THREE calls, Over the course of ONE week, every THREE months. There IS an automated message left on the first and third attempts. They are calling for feedback, to make the service better for YOU. It is a convenience to most people, and many people have said so. Stopping the call is as simple as changing your preferences. And yet, people have the nerve to get angry and rude when they are contacted. Also, the Do Not Call directory, list, or whatever only stops SOLICITATIONS. As in, someone selling you something, which Angies List isn't doing. Sorry, but your ignorance is NOT an excuse, ever. And not having phone manners at all, which the reps deal with on a regular basis, is just deplorable. Pull your head out of your butt, and go read a bit, before getting indignant that someone would DARE to contact you... Google phone manners, and realize that simply yelling "NO" into your phone isn't going to stop calls. Also, if you are a spouse, check if your husband/wife is giving your phone number out, BEFORE getting mad about calls. I swear, phones have been around for the natural lifespan of pretty much every person out there, and yet people still haven't figured out common courtesy. It's absolutely amazing, there should be a class in school on it or something. Also, for the people who get annoyed about requests for feedback, you are human leeches, so congrats on that.
I got a call from this # and wanted to do repair work on my house. I did not respond to his request and was silent. He hung up. This is scam and blocked this # on my phone
