A very engaging gal called wishing to "confirm" my address and phone number, etc. because my "national bank or major credit card company" had entered me in a sweepstakes and this was pre-notification that I might win $25,000 in cash in a December 2013 drawing.
Right.... I have no bank account or credit cards.
When I asked a few penetrating questions and caught her in several contradictory story shiifts, she hung up.
Said my credit card entered me into a FREE drawing for 2,5000, tried to give me a free watch and free magazine subscriptions and a free double entry. Said I didn't want anything
Called me claiming my husband and I had been entered into some kind of yearly sweepstakes and we had won. I told her neither of us entered such a thing, she explained we were entered by our bank or credit card, and kept emphasizing how lucky we were to have won. I asked her to name which company had entered us, and she said she 'didn't have access to such personal information'. Yup, well iI don't waste my time with scamming companies claiming I won something I didn't enter, who also can't tell me WHO allegedly entered me. SCAM. I hung up when she couldn't tell me which bank or cc 'entered me'. I don't think for a minute banks and credit card companies are running around entering customers in contests out of the goodness of their hearts.
Received a call fro 310-543-4364 I asked who was calling and all she could tell me was she was with a sweepstakes company and that I had won. I told her I had not entered and sweeps stakes. She replied the my credit card company had entered me. I said that is was very nice of then to do the considering I don't have and credit cards. and hung up on her. She immediately called me back and ask why I was acting the way I was when she was just calling me to let me know I had won and all she needed was my credit card number for verification. I told her again that didn't have any credit cards and that I was reporting the number she was calling from to m local police department, she hung up immediately.
Was told that I had been entered into a sweepstakes by one of my major credit card companies and I had already one a prize. Woman began asking me to confirm information including annual household income. I could tell she was building up to more sensitive information like credit card number. I told her I do not give out personal information over the phone and after a couple of protests she gave up.
This lady called me saying I was entered in a $25000 sweepstakes that my bank or credit card company entered me in she asked me to confirm my name and adress and after I asked her a few engaging questions she hung up. Don't let these people scam you.
