It is a payday loan company. They call to confirm that they have reached a working number & once you answer they immediately hang up...which is later followed by several fraudulent calls regarding approved auto loans, student loans, mortgage refinance application, etc... Please be smart and do not answer the phone if you receive a call from this number!
It is a payday loan company. They also call from phony area codes like 998. Once you answer, you comfirm that they have reached a working number. I just pick up the phone after the first ring, and immediately hang up. Then I immediately put a block on their phone number. I know have thirty blocked numbers on my list -- all from payday loan/phony credit collectors/foreign pharmacy calls. I am thinking of changing my phone number and NEVER giving it to anyone again (other than my sons). Of course, that won't work because everyone "needs" your phone number, and now we have no way of knowing who sells those numbers and who doesn't. Insurance companies, banks, anything you buy online . . . and your number gets out there once, and it will be sold over and over and over.
I have been besieged by about 40 calls in the last three days, from Washington State, Rhode Island, California, etc., including two from this number. Mostly hangups though some start claiming my application for an auto loan or something else has been received and approved. I, of course, haven't filled out any smuch application.
My experience has been the same as "Etaion" above. I haven't applied for anything in years and now all of a sudden I am approval for everything. My kid used me as a reference on a credit app and the rest is history. Something has to be done about this type of harassment.
