This number called last night every hour for a few hours. I don't have an answering service (purposely) on the number they are calling, and I did not pick up the phone. They just called this morning. I answered the call on speaker phone but did not say anything. A male asked if anyone was there, then asked for a name I did not recognize. I said "take me off your mailing list, phone list, registry and anything else you have with this number, and never dial it again. I hung up. They haven't called back since but we will see. There was no delay on answering so they do not appear to have an automaticic dialer with a service that alerts them to a picked up call. They knew I picked up. Scum bags
The number just called me. Caller ID showed Dir Assist CA. I suspected a scam and didn't answer. They didn't leave a message. What troubled me was that they did not release my phone line. I got the phone off hook beep and the recording telling me that if I'd like to make a call to hang up the phone. Strange. An Internet search showed that they use several 310 555 XXXX numbers.
Hey. These calls are a scam operation. The smart thing to do is let the FBI know about this. Because I get these scum bags every day now and it is hurting my health. I am going to be disconnecting my phone soon because the Government is full of crap too. They don't care.
The daunting task of beating these guys isn't impossible, you know? Ever try not answering mystery calls in any way? Not a lot can be done with calls that come from overseas, or ones that are masked, but they do get tired of calling numbers that have no kind of answer. They call who answers, and if you're taking the calls, you can expect to keep getting them. As for this number, you should be able to tell it's not one to answer just by the prefix. Only on TV and for directory assistance is 555 used. This is a good example of a spoofed number--which makes it very difficult to do anything with. Not answering it at all makes them mad since they can't get anything off numbers that have nothing. Maybe consider a call blocker for a landline or a blocking app for a cell. If you don't wish to spend money, not answering at all is free.
I received calls from this number six times within one hour and when they got my voicemail they did not leave a message then when I called back the number it made garbled sounds - I hung up
