Calls originate ini India and Pakistan. Your callers are hard core scammer/extortionists. They spoof local numbers. At the present time, they are beyond the reach of US law.
Call blocker might be of some help. Also don't pick up on numbers you do not recognize, or where there are caller IDs that seem odd. Or where there is no caller ID. There’s no way to stop the calls from being initiated.
I've read that the government in Washington is conducting an investigation of these scammers. It may take a while before they can start shutting them down. At least one US front-man for the scammers has been prosecuted. They also use American mules to transfer funds. It's hard to get the cooperation of the local governments.
I know the government can find them. It just takes time.
David Grey called and woke me up at 8 am on a Saturday morning. Pissed me off. I tried to block the phone number and couldn't. The message said it was not a valid number, probably overseas. I wish we could stop these scammers somehow.
Same type of message. The person identified himself as a "Davis Grey/Gray" in the message, claiming to be US Treasury Department threatening Federal criminal action.Sounded a bit more foreign, and on a Saturday? I am not the only one who wishes someone could put a stop to the calls.
