'Carey Johnson' who stated he was a contractor called about 5PM tonight. Said he was going to be in area doing estimates. Usual scammer junk. You could hear other call center lines working in backround. I asked if he was a criminal scammer and he laughed nervously and said I must be 'very unhappy' and hung up. Not sure if these toads are the Platinum/Coast/Tri Cities construction scammers but bet they are.
Called with a fake name, when I asked for a license number he hung up.
It's another fearless contractor telemarketing mill that cares not about the do not call list.

My new 7 step strategy for contractor telemarketing.
When the number doesn't come up...
1 Ask them why they are calling?
2 Tell them "I have a lot of work that I am currently looking for contractors to do."
3 "But, I need to finish something, can I call you back in 5 minutes?"
4 Tell them you need a phone number to call them back at.
5 If they haven't hung up, ask the person's name and ask if I should ask for them, or someone else.
6 If they haven't hung up, ask them their CONTRACTOR LICENSE NUMBER.... They will most assuredly have hung up by now.
Calls from this number at least 4-5 times per week. I do not answer since called ID says "unknown". Call blocking is experiencing a major fail lately as the number of these annoying calls is as bad as it was prior to the initiation of the program, after a lull when some telemarketers actually used the list. Since there seems to be no penalty for continuing to call, they have gone back to their prior levels
