I just received a call from some sales scam at this number. The caller ID also gave me "Sidney Kimmel E" . Here's what's weird: There IS a Sidney Kimmel Entertainment (produces movies) in Beverly Hills, whose phone numbers are all within 310-777-****, with various numbers for the ****. There is no way this legitimate company (whom I have dealt with on business) could have any affiliation with this scam. Is it possible for a phone number (like an unused externsion) to be hacked?
CID: SIDNEY KIMMEL E
I answered - they guy said his name was Steve and he was using his brothers computer to make these calls. Where did he get my number... He said from a data base provided by a contractor who did work for me before... He was representing AGP (America Going Green) project providing government funding on any project we may have at our residence.
Really? Most of the work he suggested we do has already been done, probably by the same contractor who finished all the work we wanted. Solar panels, energy efficient windows, new furnace, AC.... Just a dumb contractor cold calling
I don't use this kind of contractor who does cold calling. I always refer to Angie's List and referrals from friends....
