I received a call from this number at 1:20pm MDT on August 31, 2016. The caller purported to be with the US Treasury department. He identified himself as Robert Matthew ID #15963. Said that I had and error on my filed taxes and that I owed money to them - with interest and penalties I owed $3,989.43. He asked who filed my taxes and I said that it was my accountant. He said that my CPA had made a mistake and that I could be taken to court or arrested. He then asked why I couldnt afford to pay my taxes. I replied that I never told him that I couldn't afford my taxes but had paid the amount indicated to me by my accountant. He then hung up. I called back again and was able to reach the same rep. He said that he did not hear my answer. I asked that what ever company he was working for remove my name from his calling list. He replied that I was just waisting his time. He then hung up again. Last call at 2:03pm MDT.
When I called the number someone in the background stated it was a call coming from USA. Someone said hello and said his name is Jason. Trying to collect on my back taxes that I've refused to pay.
I got a call from this number on my cell phone. The cell phone listed the location as California. It was before 10AM EST which means it was before 7AM Cali time. It was a recorded message saying the US Treasury about a tax violation and that I could be arrested. I'm thinking this is a scam.
This number called me and presented himself as one of treasury agent. He introduced himself as James Webb with I.D. No 156088 only to find out he is a scam. Be careful with this people.
