No there isn't. They are located in India or Pakistan and as such beyond the reach of US law. Call blocker might help and do not pick up on call numbers you do not recognize.
Just got this call. They said I was a prime suspect in something in California but I live in Michigan. Definitely a scam. Scary words, don't know what they were going to ask for, probably money to "defend" me.
This also happened to me. They said I was being sued by a company for the amount of $ 997.00 and that I would be served with a warrant for check fraud and 2 other fraudulent charges. So of course I panicked, as this has never happened to me before. I called the police department and they said it sounded like a scam. I also checked to see if I had a warrant and I do not. What's concerning me the most is that they had my social security number . I did not provide them that information. They also knew what bank I banked with. Does anyone have any insight on this?
Got this voice mail from a women with a bad english accent saying "we have received a legal case against you and for that reason you will be arrested at your physical address or workplace. for more information call 310-945-2570. See you in the courthouse". SCAM ALL OVER IT!!! Stupdi people!!
Same just happened to me! Same amount of money owed and everything. What made me panic like you, was that they had my SSN. I kept asking WHAT'S THE NAME OF THE COMPANY FILING THE LAWSUIT and she couldn't tell me. I live in Dallas, Texas. A law firm in California does NOT have jurisdiction to 'serve' me with a lawsuit. There has to be some way to stop these people who don't have real jobs and have nothing better to do than scam everyday hard working Americans.
