These jerks call me several times a week and this has been going on for years. I never answer but finally I thought I'd try to get off their list. As soon as I told a "representative" politely that I was not interested and to take me off their list, she hung up on me. So much for being civil and polite. I hope that karma catches up to those pieces of slime. The sad thing is that I was put on hold for about five minutes before I could talk to one of these creeps so there must be lots of people falling for this crap.
I have been reporting these numbers for over a year to the FCC, Do Not Call Registry complaint line and even my phone service provider. There is nothing anyone can do to stop these people. They steal phone numbers and use them as a front to cover their actual numbers. The ultimate was when I received a call form one of these companies and my own phone number appeared on the caller ID. My number which is private and unlisted and I pay extra each month for that private/unlisted number! A lot of good that is doing me. I keep a call log next to my phone. Everyday at least 6 times and as many as 20 times a day I get these calls. It got so bad I unplugged my phone. My provider told me they would change my number at no expense to me but what good would that do if they can get my private/unlisted number to use as spoof once what is going to stop them from doing it again. I have wasted more time reporting these phone calls than actually listening to my phone ring from them. Nothing will stop them.
Something needs to be done... we are paying money to a federal bureau of communications, and no one can do anything to help us... these people are calling all the time...
don't answer and then delete. Eliminate the stress. The annoying blocking and looking up numbers and reporting to DNC list is worthless. If no one answers their phones anymore unless they know the caller then maybe they will fade away with the sunset someday.
312-216-0879 or some other number calls every day offering a medical alert system for "free" and "free" shipping, a total value of $400. Plus a "free" $50 Restaurant.com gift card good at over 50,000 restaurants nationwide. Jeez, last time it was $3000 worth of "free" store coupons. Have played their game and let them talk on and on. Everything is "free" except for a $1 a day charge for the monitoring. And if I decline either by pressing 5 or by not accepting their kind generous offer I will be reported to my healthcare provider because I really, really need this system. I'm shuddering at the thought of a report being made, perhaps I'll get called to the principal's office. I was asked for a telephone number in case I was disconnected. Gave her Carmen from Card Services' number. I know they will get on so well. It is a match made in...scam world.
Thanks for the chuckles your post provided! Seeing as you did not take them up on their generous offer, go directly to Jail. Do not pass Go. Do not collect $200. ;-)
