This company calls numbers on the do not call registry (in violation of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act) claiming they are an IT outsources and naming someone no longer with the business that they have been working with in the past (which they haven't). They then want to set up a teleconference to start a work schedule, but refuse to provide a phone number when asked (in violation of the TCPA) and refuse to provide a physical address when asked (also in violation of the TCPA). This is clearly a scam as all legitimate businesses would gladly provide both a phone number and an address to anyone they wanted as a client. Do not provide this scammer with any information.
I run a legitimate SEO company and you are so right - phone scammers and email spammers claiming to be SEOs are probably the most to blame for SEOs confusing rep.
Turns out they are stupid, too. They call me and try to sell their "services" with silly scare tactics. I sometimes let them ramble through the script before asking if they know what my company does.
I keep getting phone calls from them. If you don't pick up they keep on calling you. Today I picked up the phone and after politely asking the gentleman on the other end to stop calling me, he hang up the phone on me. WTH?
Got this number to my business line this morning. They called three times, four minutes between each call, no message (so - as someone else mentioned - I don't think it was a "butt dial"). I agree, this is the number on the martenology.com website (multiple places).
Luckily I use Google Voice for my business line, so it's easy to block.
