I received a call from 312-239-0201 from a "Investegor Mark Williams" regarding an important matter that needs ny immediate attention today. He directed me to extension 104. I called the number back and spoke with the man. He told me it was an old debt from a cash advance place. He told me that the debt concludes "check fraud" and theamount was for nine hundred and some odd dollars, which is a high amount due to interest accrued and if i didnt give the account some attention today,which was to make a payment arrangement. Wierd thing was that i owe them in 2004 and si.ce then had filed bankruptcy early 2010. I spoke to my attorney and the attorney general and they said that if you are threatened with a case against you, you would have received a notice in the mail or at least something in print. I then called Mr. Williams back and asked him to fax me something in print that says the debt and criminal case was valid, he did. but the information, court case number, and other information was invalid and false. All the info was verified by my attorney. What a scam!
Today this number called my parents, sister and ex-husband. I had obtained a Payday Loan in 2008, yes 3 years ago. I lost my job and did not pay it back. The check I gave them was presented for payment and returned NSF. Now, 2011, they told my family that it was for a bad check that constitued fraud. That each family member was told that because they were listed as references that I could not have gotten the loan without them. The masn told my father that he would be listed second on the lawsuit. My father is in his 70's and was upset bu this guy from Willam Scott and Associates. I have sent a letter to the Attorney General in Texas and will see what transpires. The guy on the phone said he was going to file a case in Bexar County. Shouldn't they have filed back in 2008. I have not heard from anyone until now? It is so strange.
my husband got a call from some guy mr. darton are something like that it was concerning my husband daughter he sounded ruded and ugly im ready for him to call back because i look on line and these people are a scam i cant wait to tell him i no what they are doing. and he must cease and decease from calling me and my daughter THEY NEED TO FIND A REAL JOB HA HA
This company called my daughter on her birthday claiming to be Police Academy Associates; said that she was being named an accessory to check fraud and that they needed her to call an confirm her social security number before to protect her from procecution for check fraud that her brother had committed. They used words like court dockat case number, and arrested. They were pretending to be police. Her brother has committed no crime but does live in another city and has recently used a payday check lending service. When I called the company they answered William Scott & Associates, but would not disclose their location, state of incorporation or any information about them other than they were William Scott and Associates with a P. O. Box number. They seem to want to get bank information so than can steal assests. This company is a racket. Beware of these criminals. They will prey on your loved ones and extort money from anyone who is vulnerable.
An unpaid loan is not check fraud. Who are you kidding. If he wrote a bad check and did not cover it in a reasonable amount of time, then that is check fraud. This reads like a message that a representative of Willaim Scott & Associates would post.
