It seems an old telephone scam has resurfaced. The perps are neither original nor very smart.
I have 23 missed or incoming calls from the number 312-265-2552. The missed call count is actually higher; however, those entries have "scrolled off" of the history on the phone.
The spiel goes, "Hello, my name is <mumble>. I'm calling to complete your order, …" Naturally, this is a company working out of a "boiler room" with whom we have never done business nor would we.
I first witnessed this scam back in the middle 80's. Back then, the callers were offering "gifts" to let them ship stuff your company didn't order. The "gifts" ranged from Hawaii cruises to barbecue grills and beyond. At the company where I worked back in the middle to late 80's, my predecessor was into that company for over $100,000 worth of useless product: skids of screen cleaner, anti-static spray, etc. - there were 12 office workers in the whole place, and these were the days before PCs and Windows.
