said Illinois Call on caller ID, was an Indian sounding accent said "calling about my computer"...at which point I told the person that this number was on the "do not call list and I would be reporting it, so their business would be fined....and he hung up.

I got a call from "William" (definitely NOT his real name) who said he was from the technical department, and I had some problem with my computer. I have had these calls MANY times, so I just hung up. Can't we stop this???
this is a SCAM!!! hang up and tell them never to call u again. they have still called me several times trying to get into my computer. The woman will usually have a very heavy accent. they will say they are from microsoft and they have detected malicious activity on your computer. I have heard that a lot of people have fallen for it. they will get into your computer as if they are going to fix it and they change all your passwords and download something to obtain all your files. the first time they called I was very suspicious and hung up. they were calling from a different number than this one. when I looked up the number on the internet there were hundreds of people reporting the same thing. Some had fallen for it and found out it was a scam. I would like to know I can report them to. I told her this time I was going to report her and that this was a SCAM. Do not call me again and take me off your list. she just continued as if she was reading from a book. I have kids in the house and have warned them about these calls so they don't end up falling for it. They will still continue to call every several months. someone needs to stop these people. they should not be allowed to identify themselves as microsoft if they are not with that company.
