I'm skeptical about telemarketing offers, but this one's legit! lowered my bill like they said they would. Not by much, it's true. But any savings is good.
For everyone reading this:
Energy deregulation is NOT A SCAM. In most states, it's the law since at least 1991. You can choose your own supplier of electricity and natural gas while still getting service from your utility just like you always did, and it can definitely save you some money. I know telemarketers can sometimes be persistent, but I guess that's the best way they know to get the word out. If you want to sign up or have any feedback, call 866-587-8674.
They call my work number at least 2x per day. Sometimes, I just hang up on them. Other times, I put the call on speaker phone and do not answer; they eventually hang up. They just won't quit bothering me. [Caller Id shows up as "Discount Center"]
Are you sure it was ComEd, or was it another outfit making illegal telemarketing calls trying to get you to SWITCH from ComEd? Those guys are scammers!
They still call back every day, multiple times, and hang up. I called the number back (stupidly) and pressed a number 'to be removed' from their list. TWICE. I even left them a message to that effect. And yet they keep calling back and hanging up. So aggravating. I have them in my phone's address book under 'survey' but now I'm going to change it to ENERGY SCAM!
Do not give these people the time of day. Do not give them your name. Do not give them you ComEd account number. Report them to www.donotcall.gov each and every time they bother you. I AM!!!
I know it's a ComEd scamming company (not belonging to ComEd). There are three other numbers. One is 773-273-8487, another starts with 312-024 (can't remember the last 4 digits), and then there's a 708 area code number as well.
Thankfully they call me at the office, and the one time I spoke to someone they kept asking me for my ComEd account number. I replied "if you're representing ComEd to quote me a better rate, shouldn't you already have my account number in front of you?" No answer, and I hung up.
