This number called and a middle eastern man said he was going to be giving away a government grant of $7,000 and that all we needed to do was to provide our personal information to him. When we asked to speak to a supervisor or any other information to confirm who he was, he became irritable and rude.
This number is most certainly a scam and it needs to be stopped!
I received a call from this number at 6:25 pm on thurs the 4th of march. I answered and it was my girlfriend who lives in France and I live in Chicago. I talked with her for a couple minutes, but remained baffled as to how this number was displayed on my phone when everytime she has previously called it has been from a French number. She used to live in Chicago (312 is a local area code) so it weirded me out even more. Was my phone trying to tease me? Making me think she was back in the city... not cool phone. Reading the thread it seems that this number has a strange history. Curious if anybody has more info on it...
I also tried calling the number back and received a busy signal, twice.
Wondering if this has to do with me responding to a craigslist posting for a job with my phone number because I have received a spam response multiple times when replying to job postings.
Got a call from this number tonight, 8:50, asking me if I wanted to order Viagra for my husband, then asking if I want it for myself, then asking if we are taking any medications at all. When I said no to every question, he hung up. The accent seemed to be Asian and very strong, although I can't say for sure. He said he was from United Medical something or other.
I got a call from this number and silence. I've also been getting calls from another number with a 916 areacode saying they are some pharmacy and were trying to sell me Cialis. I said Im a woman. She said well maybe you husband would like it. He said his name was Mark but his accent was so strong I couldn't even understand him. I knew it was a scam so I just hung up. I have saved this and other number in my phone so that it rings on mute as to not disturb me.
I just got a call from this number with a voice mail claiming that a friend of mine (who's name he does give) is in serious legal trouble for committing some sort of fraud and listed me as a reference and if I don't call him back I will be in trouble as well. I've gotten calls before about this particular friend and she is aware of this and says it's nothing and I should ignore it. I'm not sure if she's lying or who to believe. I feel like I'm being threatened. Even if she did do something wrong, how in the world am I getting dragged into it?
