I have received other calls similar to this. My daughter who will be going into the 11th grade took the PSAT last year. On the scantron they list their phone number. Somehow groups selling ACT/SAT prep materials are getting our phone numbers. I will be complaining to my daughter's school.
Time to "get real" Louise and the rest of you that end up reading this -- if your kids are going to college, and they are taking PSAT/SAT/ACTs and writing in the REQUIRED information on those tests (if they want their scores, and want them submitted to the college of their choice) -- their PHONE NUMBER and all their information HAS TO BE ON THE TEST!!!
So, you'd better get comfortable with the fact that you'll be getting lots of odd phone calls. Not only from Academic Prep (which is who this number belongs to), but from all the colleges they list on their forms for who they're interested in attending, and THEN some! Doesn't matter if you're on a "do not call list" or not. For whatever reason, this doesn't apply.
Everyone wants your money, so they want your kid to come to their school! I have a son that will be a senior this year, and he's a smart cookie! I can't even TELL you the number of phone calls we're getting from colleges, people who want to offer financial aid "help", companies who want us to hire them to help us fill out forms, financial planners, etc. Even from colleges that he even told me that he wasn't even remotely interested in! (They have to list 5 colleges that they're interested in -- in some areas.)
This is LIFE, folks! If you don't want their help, just tell them nicely to remove them from your list (unless you can benefit from their help -- some of them you can!)....someone on the other end is *just* doing their job. At least they have one. :)
