Recording telling me my card has been locked. Hung up before recording finished. Tried to call back to three times couldn't get through. Looked the number up on those cheesy paysites that want you to give them money for tracking down information and phone numbers, tracked the number two Illinois, Chicago for free , no further luck or effort put into it
This number called me multiple times a day but when I pick up and say hello they don't talk. I've asked them not to call me. They call me on my landline, which is supposed to be unlisted
My wife received a call for me, Benjamin, as the emergency contact of Margarita. He was "Peter Johnson," a police officer and that Margarita was in a vehicular accident in New York State. He wanted to connect us to the public defender because supposedly Margarita was at fault. He could have caused us heart failure. Fortunately Margarita was in a different state and while talking with "Peter Johnson," my wife was able to verify Margarita was not in the accident. He wanted to get information and connect us to another person, the "public defender." Johnson hang up when pressed for further ID's and phone number.
Variation of the "grandparents" scam. You get a call saying that a relative is in serious trouble (medical/legal/travel etc) and you need to send money for bail/customs/plane ticket/whatever. Only once you've sent the money by prepaid card or wire transfer do you find out it's a scam and you're out the money. Glad you didn't fall for it!
