It's scam. I've asked real state trooper. He said : no cop will ask you for money. Especially over the phone. When they call, tell them that. Worked for me perfectly.
They called me identifying themselves as State Police - which threw a red flag with the 312 number. They began asking if I was the owner of the company. Wouldn't give any more details and wouldn't identify themselves and wouldn't say how they got my phone number. Aggressive and enough to make me report this number to the police.
This is big rip off to businesses and residents. I have been told that the people calling get 80%- 90%. I filed a complaint with the Illinois Attorney General's office
