Got a call from this number on my home phone. Picked up to answer and caller hung up. I called back, received a general voice mail.
Since I had been having problems with an astounding number of unauthorized calls recently, I had registered my numbers (home and cell) on the National Do-Not-Call Registry as well as put a block to deny unknown or unannounced calls on my home phone in an effort to stop or at least minimize the spam calls.
Because of this, I googled the caller's number and did find another site listing this number as sme type of national sweepstakes spam call. A toll-free number is also given as a call-back number: 800-960-0083.
According to my research on this number, the caller tells the person that they have won a Lincoln Navigator and tries to get them and their spouse to come to claim the prize. Additional details on these calls can be found here: http://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-800-996-0081.
I found this number on my ID box also and a message from Bill that said he was from the prize distribution center and wanted to congratulate me on winning a new Lincoln Navagator and to call him back at 18009960081 which I did not. I entered the number on google and found the afore mention notes and now today I had a call from Chad Edwards form the number 1-773-293-6978 and he left a message that I had won one of four gifts and to give him a call as soon as possible and this number was to his personal desk. Thanks for reporting your scam so that I would be aware of others who had received the same calls.
Just received this number (312)488-1851 on my phone as well. When I answered, they hung up the telephone. I wish there was some way to report this person.
Same thing, the bill guy with the lincoln navigator. I called back and i left a message but no return call or anything, whats up with this [***] for real? can they get anythingfrom me if i didnt give them any info?
Received call on 1/28/2008 at 7:09PM. Caller ID gave number as 312-488-1851 and name as Bill Bentley. Do not recall specifically what the call was about, but the Lincoln Navigator scam sounds familiar.
