Credit card fraud!!!
I got a text message from this # asking about doing massage appointments for 8 people in my office for an event. They wanted to have a driver drop the clients off over a period of a few days. The scam is that they would pay me for the massages and the driver with a CC, but they wanted me to pay the driver in cash. Rediculous! It is Credit Card Fraud. Any number of bad things can happen in this set-up, so please don't fall for it.
I had the same text:
1."This is Richard, do you do Swedish Body Massage?"
2."Richard Smith?"
1."Richard Lamar"
2. " I am old-school Swedish given that I went to school in 1974. Now though I use neuromuscular with Ayurveda and concentrate on muscle groups."
2. " You're not in my database in my phone. I can't place you. Please forgive me."
1."I got your info online at alltherapist.com with a good recomendations,I have event coming on the 10th of May,I will like to do Swedish Body Massage for 8ppl can you take care of this before the event date?i have made arrangment with the party planner driver will bring 2ppl per day.get back to me with the price per person and types of credit card you accept as a payment."
I told him that I was booked and then asked how long he would be in Orlando but he did not get back to me. He has no idea who is he contacting or where they are. I have a cell line that is based three area codes to the west of where I have my practice.
I too am in Florida and we get calls and texts and emails like this monthly. I just don't want anyone in our business to get burned thinking they are doing a good thing for someone.
I too received this text message earlier today. Thought it was a little strange so I looked up the phone number. Thanks to these comments I did not & will not respond.
