Received an automated message about reserving a travel cruise and to press a number to speak to a representative. Called me although I am on the do not call list. If you get a call from this number and it is automated, please file a complaint to the do not call list, even if you are not on the list. Sales calls that are automated are illegal
they called and a recording says "congratulations, you recently filled out a contest entry..." which is all i needed to hear before hanging up. i never enter any contests. it's a good way to get totally harassed by telemarketers and because you gave them the info, they can say you"expressed interest " to try and skirt the law (when they give out your number to other companies). they lied to me, (i would know if i had entered a contest), a scam no doubt about it. (sounds like they shift gears from time to time) and long shot but person who commented about them getting your number. they simply dial all unknown numbers in the area code and go literally number by number. the local newspaper does this for subscriptions, stating "people move a lot so we go right down the list and call anyone not on our DNC list, (yes btw i am on the Natl. Do Not Call List, it KINDA works, (unreputable groups don't care of course, and call anyway)
Al, I'm curious why your post is showing an advertisement (link) from Home Furniture Showroom? Is that who called you? And if so, I'd like to know if you have visited their website lately? I ask because I have recently been on their website and now I have also received an unsolicited call from the same number. If you were on their website, and they called your Skype number; and I was on their website and they've called my number - it would appear they are mining. And while roving bots are legal - mining for personally identifiable information is illegal.
