Scammers are sending out dozens of robocalls telling you to follow their directions and click into their system by either clicking the number 1 "to verify your Google business listing," or clicking 7 "to remove yourself from the verification system." I've blocked over 10 DIFFERENT numbers just in the last 2 weeks, all saying the same thing, many using the same robovoice. Many were from the 469 area code (Dallas TX), so I finally figured out how to program my answering machine to block ANY calls from that area code. Then the calls started coming in from 832 (Houston TX) and I blocked that area code, too. Today the call came in from 312-647-2237 (Chicago.) I get a lot of business calls from Illinois, so could only block this specific number. I've reported every call to Google My Business that contained references to Google business listings. When in doubt, refer to this disclaimer from Google:
"When might Google contact you?
You may receive a phone call from Google to verify your business or confirm business details for Google Maps or Google My Business. You may also receive a phone call about Google AdWords, Google Play or other Google products. Unless you specifically requested an automated call, a call from Google will always be from a live person, not a recorded voice. Any emails from Google should come from an email address ending in “@google.com.”
