Individual got through Sentry II call blocker then proceeded to ask for the primary insured on our plan. When I told her that the person she wanted to speak with was not home She launched into a pitch, claimed to be a nurse for Blue Cross wanting to discuss healthcare services and provide reminders about screenings.
This is either HMO third party BS or a scam. A stranger claiming to be a nurse 5 states away from us is hardly in a position to assess our health needs and we have a doctor for that.
HIPAA protects your privacy so this sort of solicitation call appears to be out of bounds.
To be on the safe side, if it is a third party, screw them - you didn't sign a contract with them and because they aren't directly involved with your care, they cause more problems with healthcare issues than they solve.
DO NOT answer any questions or give them your private information. You can always call your insurance company if you have questions.
