The just called and hung up after 2 rings. I called back and the recording is one of those "pre-paid Visa sweepstakes"..... Luckily the have an opt out option on the menu. Hopefully it works.
Recieved a call from same # did not pick up. Have you gone through a foreclosure or tried to refi recently or even applied for a car loan. I think there is some connection to this activity and these calls.Possible hack to auto dealers data base, or credit card company through a mail order. Could possibly be a breach in UPS or FED-EX data base.If you purchase any thing on the net or by mail order use a credit card not a bank bedit slash credit card.
The advice you give at the end of your message for people not to use a bank debit/credit card for Internet or other purchases is sound. Since it is presumably tied to a checking or savings account, you make yourself vulnerable to having all of your money cleared out of your account. If you don't have a 'regular' credit card, you can get a preloaded card anywhere and use that for on-line purchases.
Regarding this number -- I don't know who called because I don't answer calls from unknown numbers, but I also have not gone through any foreclosures or refinancings or anything else you mentioned. I truly think that these people are using machines to automatically dial random numbers without regard to the do not call list. They do it because they are crooks.
I am surprised this number showed up here (800notes). Hardly a typical phishing operation exchange. Well, no matter. I just add to my Black List for Call Control and am never bothered again. I hope everyone gets smart phones and smart apps that can recognize and hang up on unwanted callers without being bothered. I know it has been a boon to my peace.
