Rec'd call from ID# 312-683-9671 on 10/30/12, mid afternoon. Rang until voice mail picked up. No message left. May have been a robocall. Caller ID said POLITICAL CALL.
312 is Chicago. When area codes were given out in the late 1940's the lowest numbers were given to the largest cities. New York City was 212, Chicago 312 and Los Angeles 213. Those numbers took less time to use the rotary dial. Later, with touch tone dialing and computers it didn't matter as the time to dial was always the same for any number. BTW any area code of x0x meant that particular state had only that one area code for the whole state. 503 was Oregon for instance, but Oregon needs many more area codes now, as do all other states.
Chicago is calling me to tell me how I should vote? What a laugh! Vote early and vote often they say there!
And, the dead can vote there if they have their names on their tombstones. Community Organizers will take down their names. Of course, they can only vote for one party, but at least they can vote after they died.
