When I answered the phone a phony type voice claimed there was suspicious activity on my credit card - voice didn't say which cc. The voice then asked me to dial '1' to verify ---- that's as far as the voice got before I hung up on them.
I answered the call because I was feeling cantankerous. It was a fake sounding computerized voice saying my account had been frozen due to suspicious activity. Of course, it doesn't say what account like a valid security call would. I pressed "1" to see if it would take me to a live person so I could give 'em what for, but it continued to an automated theft system & asked me for my credit card or debit card number. Unfortunately, most people who would succumb to this ploy aren't computer users either.
Noticed the number on caller ID of an elderly friend who had not answered. Same day there was same number on my home caller ID with no message. Every number I receive like that now I just log on to donotcall.gov and turn it in as a complaint. Might not do any good but it makes me so mad to get these crazy calls I feel I should do something.
