Calls every few days. Recorded message. Female voice says "Hello", there is a small pause then she says, "Sorry about, I was having a problem with my headset." Shows up as Unknown on caller ID.
Yes! I've gotten that with other numbers as well, where it sounds like the pause was because the girl was having trouble with her headset! And she says exactly that "...sorry! I was having trouble with my headset...Hi there! I was calling you about..."
Illegal telemarketer using pre-recorded message and autodialer to scam idiots with bogus trips. Since they need to make a million calls to find someone stupid enough to both answer the phone and give them their credit card number, they use this old "headset" stall tactic if you answer while they can connect you to their live criminal operator in India to steal your data.
My elderly mother-in-law gets calls from this number (she is in the Chicago area)(I have gotten the same recorded call from a different number, I am in the DC area, and this has been going on for at least 6 months). It is most definitely a scam. Please be careful, there is a new scam in which the recording you hear asks something like "can you hear me?", and they are recording you when you say yes. They, they try to set up accounts in your name, or change your phone info and use your recorded "yes" as "authorization".
