Just called my cell phone and didn't even ring. Just went to missed calls. This is probably a robo device looking for valid numbers for future scams. They are spoofing a Chicago number to find valid phone numbers. These groups post the numbers on the deep web or sell them to other scammers. A valid number is what they want. To weed out fax machines, business lines, etc...There is really nothing you can do but block the call. Government DO NOT CALL LIST's are worthless. The fines are cheaper than the results, plus most these crooks are oversea's out of US juristication. Even if in the US they are CROOK's. They don't care. Even blocking is worthless because they will never call you back with the same number, but I have to do something. They know people block numbers so they change and spoof daily. NEVER. Let me repeat, NEVER. Dial back or try to get removed from a call list. That only confirms they have a valid number or sucker that will actually answer the phone. These crooks work on the assumption that they can con anyone. They have nothing but time. Best option is, Yes, never answer a strange number. If you do pick up to just hang up and block the call. ANother option is to answer but don't speak. There system are designed to get a sound, no sound they hang up. They call many numbers at once but my have only a handfull of crooks, so the first voices get transferred to a scum bucket. The last option is to screw with them. Got this from howard stern show. Just act strange. Breath heavy, talk dirty, talk slow, do a charlie brown adult voice, you know ( Wamp wamp wamp, wamp wamp wamp). It pisses them off. I had one call me a pervert. At least I had fun!
