Phone scam advising they want banking information which cost a local resident $5000. Dollars. First start by selling you computer protection plan then request personal information and money wired to them. All have the country of India accents.
got a call from Charge1 - they were confirming a payment for a purchase that I made online. Seems legit, so I don't know why some are saying it's a scam.

I think people had some complaints about the computer tech support they were using. Charge1 confirms payments for many vendors and so you should verify that the vendors themselves are legit. Charge1 is fine. I recall getting calls from them in the past (over a year ago) and everything went fine with the transaction. I just got my latest call from them and expect everything to go fine as well. (My call was about a vendor that I've been doing business with for 9 years.)
Got a phone call to verify a purchase I made to pharmacy on line that I have dealt with before. I gave him my bank routing number etc and then the REAl company called me to verify the purchase the next day...that was when I realized I ad been scammed. Fortunately they did not cash the check in time. Looks like I will still have to cancel my bank account though.
Called my father with short term memory issues and walked him thru securing virus protection on his computer. When I called this number (312) 765-7495 the call does not go through. Did not receive a confirmation email, but a check cleared the account two days later. In the memo section it read paytowebtechnoorg with phone #855 256 4032. That number goes to voice mail only. Visited webtechno.com and called the support number posted there: 855 666 6703 and spoke with a tech who told me they installed software. I asked for the receipt and to speak to someone to cancel the service. They insisted I hang up so their accounting department could call me. I don't expect that call any time soon...
