I got the same call, pressed 1 to get more info and was told they couldn't make that connection now and the line went dead. Since a member of my family recently made a large purchase at Canadian Tire I wondered if my name had been entered and got a bit excited. What's the deal here?
Just called me. Picked up the phone but did not say anything. After about 5 or 6 seconds an automated messaged told me that a friend or family member visited a Sears or Wal Mart location and entered me into a draw for a free vacation which I won. Told me to press 1. Huge scam, don't answer.
They just called me. I picked up the phone and like above they took a few seconds to answer. An automated message told me that a friend or family member had visted the Bay, Sears or Walmart location and entered me into a draw for up to $2500 towards a vacation. They told me to press one, I did and when the girl from the automated voice came on, I told them to remove this number from their calling list. Ugh!
It was a recorded message saying that either me or someone in my household entered a contest at Canadian Tire, Zeller's, or The Bay, for a trip. The message said our number had been selected for the amount of $1600.00, free, for four people to go to Cancun, Mexico ... Press 3 to decline the offer.
NOBODY ENTERED ANY SUCH CONTEST. WE PAY CASH ONLY SO NO WAY THOSE STORES KNOW WE EXIST.
If you are in Canada and get a call from this number, 1-312-878-9608, "OUT OF AREA", as I did on Friday, August 5, 2011, at 3:03 PM, please report to both governments, Canada and the United States, as Canadians ARE permitted to do so. The links are listed below. Let's get this SCAMMER shut down.
