Hi to Elizabeth and to anyone who responded to this number, i'd like to say sorry for you being scammed as it almost happened to me. After i deposited the money into my account i thought to myself there's something fishy about this check and the instructions. First of all he tells me her name was Helen Fielding and i googled the name Helen Fielding and come to find out she was a British Novelist. I called the number but didn't speak, the person had a voice mail and he had an accent to my guess he was Nigerian. He kept texting me asking me what happened to the check? I responded and told him it's been deposited just to play along. He texts me again this time i was so pissed i called him about the scam and eversince he hasn't texted back. I told him i had reported him to the FBI and investigations are ongoing. The long and short of my story is that i took a picture of the check and called my bank about a possible scam so they forwarded the case to the fraudulent office claims or something. The funny part was he offered me 10% of the $1,430.00 that was sent to me and also told me to send it through western union because he had ordered some painting from China and this [***] had the nerve to use a white man's name as the recipient just elude us.
I answered to this number thinking it was a legit number from an ad I responed to from the Washington city news paper offering a job, who ever it is send me a check for $1,430 with instuctions. I did what I was told which was to send money to Nigeria for a painting. Of course the check bounced right after I did this. I got scammed and dont know what to do. Help Please!
Thank you, i also responded to the same ad and i just received a check for 1420. I was suspicious so i told them i didnt have a bank account and I was told i could take it yo a check cashing place monday and then witr the money to china. Get the authorities in on it and maybe they can do something.
I am sorry to say I was scammed as well. I did try to google and check all the names on the various documents but to no avail. I still got caught. Any thoughts as to if we can recover our loss.
