I received a call from this number today - caller was abusive and would not tell me what issue was about. It was like someone trying to mug you on the telephone. I hung up. They immediately called back. It is awful that verbally abusive people can call you in your home and beat you up for no reason.
You are correct that there is a body attachment, however it is for civil contempt. Therefore, it allows police to bring you to court to answer for your failure to appear if you have been summoned. And you won't sit in jail until you pay.
Actually, a body attachment can only be issued once a court has already issued a judgment ordering payment; a collection agency doesn't have the power to do this.
To the debt collectors here, I want to know why all of you do not get a real "human" job rather than continue being bottom feeders.
I can only imagine that you are uneducated professionals, unskilled ex Wal-Mart workers who could not succeed at pushing a cart in front of someone entering the store and saying "welcome to Wal-Mart." I suspect you couldn't manage the smile.
Think about it, you work for attorneys who cannot win a case in a traffic court so they rely on this type of thing knowing they are eating at the souls of so many unfortunate people - people who have medical problems and medical bills they cannot pay, people who have lost their jobs through no fault of their own, people who were young and got in trouble with credit cards.
These attorneys know their actions are indefensible. They know they are wrong to represent CC companies because they know the people at the CC companies are charging rates that exceed what once could only be found among loan sharks.
All I can say to the people on this forum who work for debt collectors is that your time will come, karma makes a big circle, and when it does, you will know what it feels like to want forgiveness from your debts, to yearn for compassion only to be harassed by some subsequent bottom feeder.
I had the worse time with Blitt & Gaines. 1st I was laid off from the mortgage industry and coudn't find a job.. I had to relocate to another state. I sent Blitt & gains a letter informing them of this. The filed a complaint and I had jsut started working 1 week before I was served. I called them immediately and spoke with a representative (i can't remember his name) and explained that I wanted to pay them and if they would give me two weeks I would start making lump some payments. He agreed to the terms. I made the first payment two weeks later and when it came time to make the following payment, I missed the cut off time for fed ex and it reached them the 1 day late. Well sure enough the day it didn't make it there i got one of those calls from good OLE Blitt & Gaines. And the phone of course hung up. I called right back and reveived "Fabian". I explianed my situation (once again). So he asked me if I was going to pay them the money. I told him I had made arrangements and he shoudl look in the system. He replied by telling me he would jsut see me in court. and hung up. I called irhgt back and continued to get him... after the 3rd time of him hanging up on me.. He stold me if I didn't stop calling he was going to call teh police on me. I told him to please do it. That he called me first... after he hung up again, I finally called back and got anotehr rep who I asked to speak with a supervisor. I reached Ms. Stephanie Lenzie. Who was nice in teh beginning to work with. After explaining to her that I had worked inteh legal arena as well as been a regulator for a state, I well knew the FDCA (fair debt collections act) and that they were in volation. She applogized and assured me it wouldn't happen again. Well it happened with him again, with Steven, and eventually, I had to file a complaint with the atty general, Fed Government, ARDC, and I actually sent complaint letters to the home of Mr. Blitt & Ms. Gaines. Imagine someone borrows money from you, Im sure you would eventually want it back. Im also sure you would get pissed if they either gave you excuses or evaded you for multiple years to pay back. Ok now imagine a million people borrowed money from you and they didnt pay it back. See you people in debt arent the only ones pissed off about money. I can understand if you cant genuinely pay your bills but a lot of the people are scum who dont want to pay. So it looks like the "scum" sits on both sides of the line. What I think really makes people more pissed is the fact that the law is on the side of the creditor. So when you dont pay your bill the government makes you. Just take responsibility and dont complain. Sometimes life doesnt give you lemons, sometimes it gives you [***], just flush it down the toliet and be done with it.
