I filed a complaint with the FCC.  I would advise anyone else to do the same

Received call on answering machine telling me to call the 976 number

I got the message, too - numerous on my machine. I called to request my number be taken off, hung up before they said they would charge me, and still got charged. ATT reversed the fee, but the company absorbed the cost. This is theft! I'm reporting them, too.
