Illegal telemarketing calls are a dime-a-dozen these days. Many of the email spammers are now switching over to the telephone. Visit FBI and FCC/FTC for more information.
If you get a call, expect more. The calling signs will ALWAYS be the same, always unsuspecting-unknown caller, usually out of calling area (generally, never a 1800 number) almost always an automated call (illegal) and it is always a some type of act now gimmick, usually, won something, lower interest rate, free giveaways, medical alert device, home security, govt assistant, bogus charity with a similar name or healthcare fraud. There is never a real company, they will never seen you anything in the mail, and they will always hang up on you. They are criminals.
All the criminals want is YOUR money. Telemarketing scams have been on the rise for years. Some are foreign controlled, some are domestic. They are all scum. They do not care about you or the law, all they want is your money. The best advice, STOP GIVING PERSONAL INFORMATION OVER THE PHONE. Warn the elderly and the gullible. The more people know, the less profitable these criminal operations will be.
Report the calls, every single one of them to the appropriate authority (ies), warn others, beware, and ignore the calls. If you dont recognize the number, dont pick up.

This phone number called today, left no message. I called back 2x, and it immediately hung up on me. That is kind of suspicious and leads me to believe it must be a scam.
