I found this message at another website - "dte appliance repair sales call to sign up for their service." I'm not sure that is correct. I answered when they called my house. They asked for my husband, and when I stated he wasn't home, they just said "okay" and hung up.
This is part of marketing the DTE (formerly Detroit Edison) Home Protection Plan, that covers appliance repairs, etc. A neighbor told me that they switched her from her existing program (offered by Consumers Power [the competing gas/electricity provider]) after talking with her, even though she said she wasn't interested in changing.
It is Detroit Edison [DTE] trying to sell service plans on appliances. I've told them and told them that we are Amish and don't have electric gadgets. In fact, I shouldn't even be answering the phone.
