This number called and left a message to call back concerning federal magistrate. When I called back, they indicated the FBI was looking for me for tax fraud, that they were working with the federal magistrate's office and could help resolve the issue. When I asked them for my taxpayer ID and why the IRS had not contacted me first with an audit notice, they got impatient and said the FBI would be arresting me with the next couple days then hung up. They would not give me a name.
I got a call from this number saying I was being contacted for "the final time" by officers of the Federal Magistrate Court. They didn't say why but I assume it was another phony IRS scammer.
Just got the same message; supposedly from US Treasury, about IRS, "final warning", etc.. Sounded mechanical, no reason to believe they knew who I was. IRS uses registered mail, not random phone calls. Caller id says Oswego NY, and this phone number they want me to call to get my case number, etc..
