The phone number keeps calling my house with a pitch that they have one of their "guys" in my neighborhood and they noticed there may some damage on my roof. They want to give an estimate. I asked him how he got my phone number and address and he acted all offended and started getting rude. It will NOT be pretty if someone shows up at my front door asking about roofing!!! There is something suspicious about whoever is calling from this number. They've called on my house phone 3 times since yesterday afternoon. The first time, I answered and they hung up immediately, the phone only rang twice and it wasn't until they heard my voice that they hung up. Once my wife left to go to the store, it wasn't 2 minutes before the number called back again but I didn't answer. This time they let it go all the way to the answering machine before hanging up. 1 minute later I heard the doorbell ring and just as I was opening the door it looked like the person was taking their hand away from the storm door handle. He said he was with a lawn care service and was just going around looking to give prices, but he didn't even have a business card or business name, clipboard, papers, anything. When I told him I wasn't interested he said nothing and walked away. When they called today, again I didn't answer, but I called back on my cell phone instead and I recognized their voice and said I received a call from this number and was just calling it back. When he answered he only said "Hello?", and he told me I must have dialed the wrong number. Something is strange, hanging up when I answer, the door bell ringing, and then when I call back I get rudeness.
I think this person is calling numbers to homes to see if people will answer, as a way to check if they are home or not possibly to break in. Otherwise, why come to my home and try to check if my storm door is unlocked? I intend to report this to the police.
