Yep. Collecting on student loans in arrears. The deregulation of financial markets led the money people to the crash of 2008 and they were bailed out. Bailed out by taxpayers. Yet because of the resulting economy, some of us are far less able to pay off out student loan debt and these collectors will stop at nothing to harass debtors into paying. Or harass anyone that knows or might know the debtor.
Hurray for Reagan. Hurray for Bush. Hurray for Clinton. Hurray for Bush. They deregulated. Hurray for Obama. He said he would regulate.
This number is calling my sister's cell phone asking for me. How can people get access to personal information like this? I have no idea who it is. They won't say who they are or why they are calling.
The persons calling from this number identify themselves as Premier Credit, a debt collector for Sallie Mae. They have called to my business cell phone several times asking for a person unknown to me. When I advised the caller of their error, she became abusive and combative, telling me that she obtained my number from a person who knows the individual they were seeking very well, therefore I must be a liar. I explained that I am a lawyer and the number they have called is registered to my law firm, as it has been for years. I suggested they Google my number to verify that their information was incorrect, whereupon the caller hung up. They have called several times subsequently. I advised today's caller that I will be filing a grievance. This educed an apology, at least, but only time will tell if they actually give up their harassment of me.
