You guys obviously don't know the telefundraising laws. If it's for a non-profit, the Do-Not-List doesn't apply. Jeez. Just answer and tell them no nicely. The nicer you are, the more likely they are to oblige.
At 1:41 pm on a Sunday (!), June 20, 2010, received a call from 317-592-9704 labeled IN ST FOP on caller id, which I assume is Indiana State Fraternal Order of Police (or at least someone pretending to be them, since FOP is the standard abbreviation). I didn't answer the phone. I checked online and see that Indiana State FOP is expanding their fundraising activities big time, so maybe it was actually them but seems counterproductive to call on Sundays. Saw an article about them going adding 100 more employees at the Muncie call center this year. It's an Indianapolis number, though, and I don't know if the Indiana State FOP has an Indy call center.
If you don't won't them to call you anymore then register with the National Do Not Call Registry - their website is www.donotcall.gov this site will help you with receiving calls from telemarketers and etc but it does take 31 days to get on the list after you have registered.
This is what the website states if the telemarketers, etc keep calling you after you have been registered - - A consumer who receives a telemarketing call despite being on the registry will be able to file a complaint with the FTC, either online or by calling a toll-free number. Violators could be fined up to $16,000 per incident.
It's worth registering - these companies don't want to be fined.
Got a call from same numbers that others have listed 317-592-9704 Seems as though they have changed the name that appears on the caller id said they were Fallen officers fund for Indiana State Police so sick of these calls!
Got the same number this morning but the caller ID was AT&T Messaging, when I answered (I had recently canclled my AT&T DSL service, all I got was dead air.
