Payday loan scam, threatening to put a warrant out if they are not paid. They said they were with Goldstein and Associates and Online Advance LLC. Shelly Carter is the one who called, giving a return number of 319-208-0197. She said that I took out a payday loan in 2011 and has been emailing me about it. She couldn't tell me the name of the payday place I supposedly took a loan from, and the total she wanted me to pay was $1000.
Got at call from Goldstein and Associates -payday loan that I supposedly had in 2011. They wanted me to settle a loan that was 300 to 500 that grow with interest for 998.00. They wanted to settle for 400.00. They had my social security number and home address. I have never had a payday loan. I leave in North Carolina and it is a law that NO PAYDAY LOANS are allowed to operate in business on and off line or in a business. I asked for the info to be sent to me and they told me they could not.
Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes. The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.

Received several calls from 319-214-7830. I called back after reading these posts and asked them for a letter per federal law, she then said we had nothing else to talk about.
Total scam! They said i owe 998.00 for a payday loan. They had all my information. They also REFUSED to send my a collection letter from the creditor whom they did not know who they were collecting for. Yes even threaten me with a warrant being issued for my arrest.
