My congregation received a four page photocopied letter from someone named Steven Baer making the same promises of a large donation to the church if I, as the minister, would email them at
[email protected] promising I would pass out midterm elections voters guides from a specific website listed in the letter numerous times. He states that the United States needs a resurgence and new awakening spirituality and politically, yet he only spoke ill of Republicans stating he will never vote for another Republican for as long as he lives. You couple that with the fact that he wrote on and on about his wife's book on Christian parenting, as well as their lifelong association with the Kennedy family and others. Like I said, it was four pages of rambling all meant to convince ministers to use their positions of influence in the pulpit to convince the congregations to vote a certain way (no doubt Democratic, since he only denounced the GOP). Anyway, doing a Google search of the email address will pull up an online copy of the letter that was sent out.
Oh, and the sizeable donation they lure you in with? It's not $5k-$20th like the letter says. It's a free copy of his wife's book. LoL
As for me, I'll have none of it, thank you.
