This is definitely a scam. This company was calling me from 480-499-0436 so I blocked that number and now they are calling from a different number. I do not answer these calls and figure if you don't speak to them, they will eventually give up and go bother someone else. Stated I had a payday loan from 10 years ago that never was paid, never had these types of loans through the internet. Ignore the calls!!!
Received an automated message from this number. They said it was in regards to my personal information and a matter that had to be taken care of today. Asked me or my attorney to call them. I have no idea what this is about. Appears to be a scam.

This is a common ploy by criminals attempting to extort money from people by scaring you into believing that you will be criminally charged, go to jail, lose your driver’s license, have wages garnished, be sued, and a variety of other variations on this, all for an alleged or nonexistent debt. They also use the “process server” who calls and claims he is going to serve you, but then says you could avoid it by calling another number. Now why would a “process server” want to do you, a stranger, a favor, and at the same time not get paid to deliver the papers?
Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes. The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.

I have had to involve my attorney in this now. He has called them 3 times and sent them a cease letter, but the calls keep on coming. Short of getting a new phone number, there is nothing more to do except keep ignoring them and blocking future numbers. The company gave my attorney a fax number but when you look up the fax number it belongs to a business in Pasadena, TX.
I am 100% certain these are spoofing calls and there is nothing you can do except block or change your number. Guess they will eventually get tired of calling and move on to someone else.
Did they give you a company name? These are certainly criminals, as soon as they learned that you were represented, they were required to stop contacting you and only talk to him. Yes it is disheartening, but remember that changing your number may result in getting the number of someone else who has the same or even more problems. We have seen it many times here where someone says "I just got this number last month" and now they are overwhelmed with calls for the previous owner.
Your best bet is a call blocker, call blocking phone, or in the case of a cell phone a call blocking app which you can get for free.
